This garden extends behind a recently renovated Grade II listed home and needed to feel like a natural extension of the house, somewhere relaxed, beautiful and genuinely usable for a young family.

The site is on quite a slope, so the layout makes the most of that with a series of terraces that break the space up and create level areas for different uses. Near the house, there's a dining space and a more relaxed seating area, separated with multi-stem trees and lots of layered, soft planting to give a bit of shelter and a sense of atmosphere.

Planting is naturalistic and seasonal, with plenty of movement and structure, designed to sit comfortably in the setting without feeling too formal. Materials were chosen to link back to the house, including brick for the outdoor kitchen and warm, natural tones throughout.

A calm, welcoming garden that works hard for family life, while feeling totally in tune with its surroundings in rural Suffolk.

This garden will be built by it's owners.
